My fellow humans, Earth is facing a crisis.  We have overextended ourselves across the galaxy, interfering with other star empires and undermining earth's sovereignty in the process.  Ever since the forming of the Federation nearly 200 years ago, our planet has faced crisis upon crisis upon crisis.

We were so headstrong during the first century of warp drive that we immediately started meddling in the affairs of other cultures.  If we weren't helping the Andorians tear apart a sacred Vulcan monastery, we were crossing into the hostile Klingon empire to deliver a body, and that's despite the fact that the Vulcans offered to do it for us!

All that interference granted us a costly war with the Romulans almost immediately, followed by decades of tension and hostility with the Klingons.  We finally made peace with them thanks to the explosion of Praxis, but under any other circumstances we'd probably still be enemies.

We didn't learn our lessons with our closest neighbors, oh no.  We decided to get caught up in the plight of the Bajoran people, leading us into yet another war, and yet another neutral zone with the Cardassians.  That treaty which was a direct result from this policy of interventionism of which the Federation Council can't get enough.

We all know what happened as a result of rushing in to help the Bajorans: the wormhole was discovered, and we eventually ran into the Dominion.  So again we had another war on our hands that cost us dearly in ships and lives.

As a member of the Federation Council I will push for a more modest foreign policy that actually obeys the prime directive instead of just paying it lip service.

Another area that desperately needs to be addressed is the economy.  The value of earth's money has gone down so far in value that it has actually become valueless and extinct!  This fairy-tale of an economic system will eventually take us down a road that will lead to disaster.  We simply cannot keep replicating everything we need out of thin air.

If elected, I will pushed for a sound monetary system based on gold-pressed latinum.  This solid foundation will finally give our currency enough value to actually compete in the galactic market.

In closing, there is a lot of work to be done. What we need right now is to go full gallop away from the replicate-and-spend policies that have gotten us into this mess.
